Seiko 6309-7040 Automatic Diver 45mm
Product Info
This watch is regarded as Seiko’s their third generation professional/recreational diver, the 6309-7040 replaced the 6105 series in 1976 and continued to be produced until 1988. For you movie buffs out there This watch was featured in iconic movies like the Abyss. The 7040 was for the Japanese Domestic market, and the rest of the world, and the 7049 with the Hong Kong dial was produced for for the North American market. Same exact watch but different referfence number. This watch is a 7040 based on the “Suwa dial”. This refers to the use of the Suwa stylized “S” symbol that was used to designate that a watch was made at the Seiko Suwa factory in Japan. The Suwa dial will also date this watch from 1976 to about 1980, and has the Suwa symbol just below the “Water 150m Resist” text. It also has the text “Japan 6309-704L T” along the bottom edge of the dial. The caseback is not original and is from the 7049 model. The watch is all original with creamy patina on the dial. The band is also original japan Z22 model. The crystal was replaced with a sapphire crystal. This is my favorate watch. very hard to find with all the original parts ( except for the caseback).
