The Bulova Accutron was introduced in 1960 and was the first electronic watch, using a tuning fork mechanism for precision. The Spaceview was made as a display model to showcase the 214 tuning fork movement. People wanted to buy the display model, and dealers were happy to sell the “Display Model,” and the strangely attractive Bulova started selling like hotcakes.
